How to save links from any app on iPhone

Save links from Safari, YouTube, Instagram, X and any other app on your iPhone using the Share button — and keep them somewhere you'll actually find them again.

How-to 6 min read

You find a good article in Safari, a recipe on Instagram, a talk on YouTube and a thread on X — all in one afternoon. A week later, you want one of them back. It’s somewhere in your screenshots, your open tabs, or a chat you sent to yourself.

The good news: every app on your iPhone already has a way to hand a link to another app. It’s the Share button. Once you know how to use it well, saving a link takes a couple of seconds, from anywhere.

This guide covers how the Share button works in the apps you use most, the built-in options iPhone gives you, and a calmer way to keep everything in one place.

The one button that works everywhere: Share

Almost every app on iPhone has a Share button. It usually looks like a square with an arrow pointing up, but some apps use their own icon.

When you tap it, iPhone opens the Share sheet — the panel with a row of apps and a list of actions like Copy and Add to Reading List. Any app that can receive links shows up here.

That’s the whole trick. If a link-saving app appears in your Share sheet, you can save to it from Safari, YouTube, Instagram, Reddit, news apps and anything else that can share.

Finding Share in the apps you use most

Some apps show the iPhone Share sheet straight away. Others open their own menu first, and you need one more tap to reach it. The labels change from time to time, but here’s what to look for:

  • Safari — tap the Share button in the toolbar. If you don’t see one, Safari is using the Compact tab layout: on iOS 27, tap the Page Menu button to the left of the address bar, then Share; on iOS 26, tap •••, then Share.
  • YouTube — tap Share under the video, then look for More at the end of the row to open the full Share sheet.
  • Instagram — tap the paper-plane icon, then look for Share at the end of the row.
  • X — tap the share icon on a post, then Share post via…
  • Reddit, TikTok and most other apps — tap Share, then look for More or Share via… if you don’t see the iPhone Share sheet right away.

If an app only gives you Copy link, that works too — you can paste the link into most saving apps yourself.

The built-in options (and where they fall short)

Your iPhone already comes with a few ways to keep links:

  • Safari Reading List and Bookmarks — good for web pages, but they live inside Safari and soon become one long list, with no room for a note about why you saved something.
  • Notes — you can share almost anything into a note, but it quickly turns into one long list of URLs.
  • Sending links to yourself in Messages or WhatsApp — easy in the moment, hard to search later.
  • Screenshots — they capture what you saw, but not the link itself.
  • Leaving the tab open — the most common one of all, and the one that quietly grows to two hundred. How to close your Safari tabs without losing them covers getting out of it.

None of these are wrong. They just weren’t built for keeping links, so links pile up in places you don’t think to look.

A calmer way: save to one home with Kloom

Kloom is a small iPhone app built for exactly this: one quiet place for every link you save, from any app.

Once Kloom is installed, it appears in your Share sheet as Save to Kloom. Here’s what saving looks like:

  1. Tap Share in any app.
  2. Choose Save to Kloom.
  3. You’ll see a small preview of the link — its title and site — so you know you’ve got the right one.
  4. Add a short note if you like (up to 280 characters), such as “for the trip” or “read before Friday”.
  5. Pick a Space to put it in — say, Reading, Recipes or Work — or tap New Space… to make one right there.
  6. Tap Save.

That’s it. You stay in the app you were using, and the link is waiting in Kloom as a tidy card with its title, site and a thumbnail.

If you save the same link twice into the same Space, Kloom asks before adding it again, so your lists don’t fill up with repeats.

Only have a copied link? Open Kloom, tap +, then Add Link. Paste it into the Link field and tap Save — Kloom fetches the title and preview for you.

Can’t see Kloom in your Share sheet?

iPhone doesn’t always show new apps at the front of the row. To pin it there:

  1. Open the Share sheet from any app.
  2. Swipe left along the row of apps and tap More.
  3. Tap Edit, then tap + next to Save to Kloom to add it to your Favorites.
  4. Drag it to the top of the list so it’s always first, then tap Done.

On iOS 27, Apple applies this list per app, so repeat it in the apps you share from most.

Saving is the easy part. These small habits make the difference when you come back weeks later:

  • Use a few Spaces, not dozens. Three or four broad ones — like Read later, Ideas and Work — are easier to keep up with than a Space for every topic.
  • Add a note when it matters. A few words about why you saved something tell you at a glance why it’s there, long after you’ve forgotten.
  • Pin the links you keep returning to, so they stay at the top.
  • Save articles for offline reading. Long-press a saved article (or swipe right on it) and tap Save offline. Kloom keeps a clean, readable copy on your iPhone for flights and patchy signal — after that, tapping the card opens it. Some sites, like X, Instagram and paywalled news, block this; the link itself is still saved.
  • Search by title, site or URL when you can’t remember where something went. Search looks across every Space at once.

Private by design

Kloom doesn’t need an account, and it doesn’t collect data — the App Store listing says Data Not Collected. Your links stay on your iPhone and, with Cloud Sync on (it is by default), sync through your own private iCloud. There’s no Kloom server in between.

Get started

Kloom is free to start, with unlimited links, offline reading and iCloud sync. If you want more than three Spaces, folders or export, Kloom Pro adds those. It runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later.

Next time you find something worth keeping, tap Share → Save to Kloom and get back to what you were doing.
